The Stitchfest Texas Team is excited to announce our featured teachers during the retreat. Two talented teachers will join us during the retreat event: Melissa Eubanks of My Fabric Relish, and Vanessa Goertzman of Lella Boutique and Moda fabric designer. You can read more about each of these wonderful quilters and teachers on the teachers page.
As you’re considering attending Stitchfest, keep in mind that registration fees are all inclusive- the classes, lodging and meals are included. Participants are encouraged to plan to sew the class projects, but there will be some additional free sewing time, so you may want to have one or two small projects to fill you time. That said, those who attended last year might agree that there’s always plenty to do!
Some class supplies will need to be provided by the participant. You will definitely want to plan to bring your fabric for the classes! We’ll share samples of the projects so you can start dreaming of the possible fabrics to use (or buy!). We do try to work with our sponsors to ensure that any special supplies for the classes are provided. Once all we have that coordinated, supply lists are made available by the beginning of April to registered participants.
Classes for 2017 will focus on the following skills:
- Fabric dyeing (you’ll dye 12 fat quarters to take home!)
- Paper piecing & Piecing with curves
- Accurate piecing with precuts
- Finishing quilts with free motion quilting
In addition to the structured classes during Stitchfest, you’ll also be able to enjoy free sewing time, a tour of Moda warehouses and a shop hop to three different shops in DFW (different from 2016 shops too!), and there’s going to be lots of other surprises, goodies and let’s not forget about all the friends you’ll make!
